Equine Raindrop - Allergic Reaction or Something else?

Let's talk equine raindrops and reactions today! I did equine raindrops on both our horses we've been traveling with the last two weeks (Baron/paint-gelding and Bizkit/appaloosa-mare). I have to say because of the results of their raindrops I was glad I did! Talk about a detox 🤮 needed with these two!
No, my horses are not having an allergic reaction. No they are not being hurt or feel uncomfortable at these moments (both are grazing or eating grain comfortable in these photos actually). Yes the bumps went away.
Some people will go the internet sensation route if this happened and swear their animal is having an allergic reaction to the essential oils or maybe even say it's a chemical burn. I'd like to bust that myth below with just a few points on the this matter. These points aren't based on scientific information either (I can get you that if you want), but they are based on my knowledge of my horses and gosh darn it people...good ol' fashioned common sense 🙆♀️
👉1st - I KNOW my horses. Both these horses have had many raindrops before. Neither have ever shown these signs of "detox welting" (that's what we call it) before at all. Have I seen this before, yes but not on these two. Facts: Same 9 oils always used, same sequence of application. No direct sunlight involved. So if it was an allergic reaction why not any of the other times? Because it's not an allergic reaction. Now I will note Bizkit was a lot more sensitive this time than prior drops but an extra application of carrier oil and she was fine...KNOW your animals this is your #1 tool in your tool bag for them.
With that being said, let's say we are still skeptical that this may be an allergic reaction that's developed over time. Back to common sense 👇
🤔 2nd - Both horses, different ages, different breeds, different sex, different backgrounds....have an allergic reaction to the same 9 oils (we only use Young Living) for the first time in 2 years on the same day at the same time? I think not 🙄 It's more likely that since they both traveled to multiple locations together and rode the same rides with other strange horses 🦓 that they were both exposed to something that unbalanced or attacked their physical system or maybe even their emotional systems. Will we ever know what it is? No. Could have been another horse or heck could have been a plant🌿 or grass🎋 their not familiar with, maybe something weird they snagged on the trail while riding 🤷♀️ Could just be the stress of long distance travel had them storing toxins they'd normally detox on their own but hadn't yet or couldn't.
Still not convinced...okay a couple more logical reasons below that anyone can use to deduce if their animal is in danger of essential oil reactions.
🐴 What would a horse do when something burns, hurts, or severely irritates them? Well, in my experience first of they'd be extremely agitated and having a lot of movement going on, not calmly eating while I take pictures down their spine (neither horse was tied in these pictures). Then most likely they'd roll a lot or rub up against things to try to do something to stop the hurtful sensation. Neither horse did any of those things. They both had plenty of time and area to do so, they were free in the dry lot or not tied in both pictures, but they continued on their evening as if nothing was amiss.
💦 Patterns. I'd like you to look at the "welt detox" patterns. Now on Baron their sporadic, kinda all over the place willy nilly. On Bizkit they are almost perfectly aligned front to back and side to side over her sacrum and lumbar area, not to mention the odd 2 off her right shoulder. Because my horses are seen by a Chiro I KNOW Bizkit is prone to having her SI joint "out" frequently, which is located right where all the welts are. Now does that for certain correlate with those welts? 🤷♀️ But it's interesting to note the coincidence. Secondly, if anyone has ever seen me do an equine raindrop they'll know this...I never drop oils as precisely and aligned as the pattern on Bizkit's back..nor do I do it willy nilly all over the place like Baron's back. I normally work back to front alternating sides of the spine or directly on the spine. I'd never put 6 drops as precisely on the sacrum/lumbar area such as Bizkit's pattern shows nor would I drop it on her shoulder where the other two welts appear. Those have nothing to do with the actual location of EO's dropped on the back at all I guarantee it.
So moral of the story.
👀Don't believe everything you read on the internet. You've got a brain, use it! Don't be a lemming and jump off the cliff with everyone else🙄
💦Use good quality oils. Young living is the highest quality oils backed with a Seed to Seal guarantee, 25 years of innovation 🙌 not imitation.
🤗KNOW your animals and go SLOW so you have a baseline to draw from when a reaction does appear.
